By a quirky set of circumstances – I didn’t know the precise wording of the law, I ran into some extremely mean people, and the police had absolutely no concern for me at all – I was charged and arrested for criminal harassment. The shock and reality of those events was completely overwhelming and extremely hurtful. For a very brief time I didn’t know what to do but I knew I had to do something and fast.
Fortunately, I had worked with a reputable family lawyer (at LLF) in the past, in Peterborough, and I called her hoping for a referral to a local and skilled criminal defence lawyer. Essentially, I trusted her and I wanted her to give me the name of a lawyer she trusted. She gave me two names and I immediately phoned the first one she recommended: I called and left a message for Richard Aitken with the firm Aitken Robertson.
Within just a very few minutes, Mr. Aitken returned my call and gave me solid and reassuring advice about what to do and what to expect. From that first telephone conversation with Richard, and because I learned that he has over three decades of legal experience, I believed that I would be properly and expertly defended. As soon as I retained Mr. Aitken as my lawyer, I began to feel like I was gaining some say and some control in my legal dilemma. Knowing that he would represent me without me having to be present in court was also a huge relief. No one can guarantee you victory, but being on the path to success is the first, best step.

“On November 16th, 2010 I made a call to Richard Aitken’s office, not knowing what I was up against for a charge that I truly did not understand.
