One of the questions that clients often ask is “how much will a criminal lawyer cost?”
That differs depending on the complexity and intricacies of each individual case. Obviously a shoplifting case is going to be less complex and a lot cheaper than a murder case which is more complex and more days in court.
For a typical summary conviction defence that takes one day to proceed to trial, it would usually cost, for our firm, between $5,000 and $9,500 plus HST and any disbursements in order to do a one day trial, depending on the nature of the charge and the complexity of the case. Many cases can be fit into that price range, again, if the case is more simplistic – the cost will be less – if the case is more difficult – the cost will be more.
