Pornography Offences: Penalties of Child Pornography

So I’ll just briefly explain the penalties and possible defenses for child pornography. Child pornography comes with some very strict penalties. There are many mandatory minimums within the child pornography legislation, so I know for example there’s a six-month mandatory minimum for making or distributing child pornography, and that’s if the crown proceeds by the lower of the two, by summary procedure. If the crown proceeds by indictment then you have a year mandatory minimum for making or distributing child pornography. For simple possession of child pornography it’s a 90 day mandatory minimum and if the crown proceeds by indictment then it’s six months minimum and that also goes for accessing too.
