Immigration Appeals

At Aitken Robertson, we also handle immigration appeals. An immigration appeal refers to challenging the decision made by Immigration Canada on your immigration case. This can result in a variation or a confirmation of the original decision in your case.

The Immigration Appeal Division (IAD) of the Immigration Refugee Board (IRB) hears appeals. An appeal to the IAD is likely to take between six months and two years. Once the appeal is heard, a decision is rendered within a month or more, depending on how busy the IAD is at the given time.

If you are of the opinion that your case was unfairly treated or decided, we can help you appeal the unfavourable decision. We review your letter and provide you with a frank legal opinion as to your best options going forward.
