What Is Disclosure?

A disclosure package initially consists of an officers typed synopsis of all the events involved, as well as, any handwritten notes that they took.  Often there will be photocopies of any photos that were taken as well.

Sometimes there is a Crown’s position indicating what their position is on an early plea, or after a trial, but that varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction.

Usually, your lawyer will also need to follow up with the Crown’s office to determine if there is any other disclosure, including videos, other photographs, or other witness statements that need to be obtained prior to going to a trial or having a resolution meeting to really try to move things forward.
