Assault: Strange Weapons Explained
What are some of the funny or stranger examples of a weapon that I have seen in my brief practice of criminal law? I’ve actually had the opportunity to see quite a few funny ones. The law does not differentiate, but by the harm caused by the weapon, all that need be is that the object involved or the item involved be used to apply the force to the individual. So if someone throws an empty coffee cup at somebody that is considered a weapon. If somebody throws a shoe at somebody that is considered a weapon. If you flick your gum at somebody that can also be considered a weapon. Hypothetically if you were chewing food and spat it at somebody that could also be a weapon. Anything and everything can be a weapon as defined by the Criminal Code of Canada.
