ADRIANA DONG

I was born in Tianjin, China. Tianjin is a major seaport and gateway to Beijing and is one of the four national central cities of China, with a total population of over 15 million.

While in China, I attended Tsing Hua University, one of the two top universities in China. It is considered as the Chinese equivalent to M.I.T.

I received a five-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis at Tsing Hua University. Upon graduation, I worked at various Import & Export Textile/Garment companies. I immigrated to Canada in the year 2001 and was employed by the Hudson’s Bay Company as a Global Sourcing and Production Manager–Ladies Wear. Later, I received the CSI Canadian Securities Course certificate by successfully completing the Canadian Securities Course – specified for professional investment.

I later obtained my paralegal diploma at Sir Sandford Fleming College with an overall 4.0 GPA. While taking the paralegal program, I received the Emond Montgomery Publications Award presented for academic achievement on completion of the first year of the paralegal program as a top student. Upon graduating from Fleming College, I was on the President’s Honour Roll as the top graduate in the paralegal program.

I work at Aitken Robertson as a Comptroller, supervising the quality of accounting and financial reporting of the firm. I am also heavily involved with our customized software development and implementation.

I have a good sense of customer service, excellent problem solving skills, and excellent planning, organizational & competencies together with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet tough deadlines. I volunteered to work as a Treasurer for the Peterborough Rugby Club for over 5 years, prepared the annual budgets and maintained the club’s accounts in surplus.

I like to travel and to watch spy movies. I am also very good at finding information from Google. Some of my favourite movies include the Jason Bourne series. I have been to almost every place Jason Bourne has been. My husband Richard hopes that Jason never visits Mars!

I am a very good cook. As per our office staff, my pizza tastes even better than local Italian restaurants’. This is maybe because I apply my chemistry lab skills in cooking!
