New Hope
The Provincial Government is trying to have people plead guilty. They are tempting with the promise that you will lose your license for a substantially shorter period of time than the current one year minimum. This may be favourable for you as you might be able to keep your licence when your case is not strong. HOWEVER, the government of Ontario is not willing to set a date for the implementation of this new program. It is important that you retain lawyers with experience in the impaired driving field to ensure that you have someone who is constantly updating his/her knowledge based on this new law. Though this program was supposed to come into force in late 2008, it still has not! Insist on a lawyer who is monitoring this situation closely to ensure that you do not plead guilty, or have your trial before the new program comes into place unless you are fully aware of the consequences.
